Alexander Isak believes Liverpool’s attack has enormous potential to improve further after returning from a short injury absence and helping the Reds maintain their winning momentum ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Brighton.
The Swedish striker missed two matches through injury before returning to the starting lineup for Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Brentford last weekend, scoring the decisive goal. He subsequently came off the bench during Tuesday’s Champions League encounter against Villarreal, as Liverpool secured a dramatic 4-3 win.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Isak expressed satisfaction with his recovery and the team’s current form.
“It was a short time I was out so I don’t feel like I’ve missed too much, so I feel good. It feels like the team is in a good place so yeah, excited,” he said.
The 27-year-old has made an impressive start to the Premier League campaign, scoring five goals in six appearances despite his recent absence.
Despite his strong goalscoring record, Isak insists he is not setting himself a specific target for the season. Instead, he wants to contribute consistently and ensure his goals make a difference to Liverpool’s results.
“Just try to be on the scoresheet for every game and try to make them count as important ones as well,” he explained.
His comments reflect a focus on collective success rather than individual statistics, particularly as Liverpool look to build on their recent run of victories.
Liverpool have scored 12 goals across their last three matches in all competitions, demonstrating their attacking threat. However, Isak believes the team can still reach another level.
“I think the potential is super-high, which is good because I think we can do much better as well so the ceiling is definitely high,” he said.
The Reds now face a difficult challenge against Brighton at Anfield. The visitors have won four consecutive Premier League matches, scoring 15 goals without conceding during that run.
Isak acknowledged that Brighton will provide a stern test, but Liverpool will be determined to extend their winning streak in front of their home supporters.
With the Swedish forward back in action and confident about his fitness, Liverpool will hope their attack can maintain its scoring form while continuing to improve as the season progresses.
