Alex Iwobi hails Victor Osimhen’s relentless winning mentality

Alex Iwobi has offered a fascinating insight into Victor Osimhen’s mindset, praising the Nigeria striker’s obsession with winning and the work rate that underpins his rise to the top of world football.

Speaking on the Beast Mode On Podcast with Adebayo Akinfenwa, Iwobi contrasted Osimhen’s laid-back personality off the pitch with his ferocious competitiveness once the whistle blows.

“He’s always fighting. I’m not surprised he is where he is right now,” Iwobi said, noting that some still see Osimhen as “a bit raw,” but stressing how his tireless running helps him “create five chances a game just from hard work and running.” Osimhen’s record of 35 goals in 52 games for Nigeria underlines that productivity.

Iwobi went on to highlight just how extreme the forward’s will to win can be. “He always wants to win, and that mentality is sick. It’s sick,” he admitted, explaining that in training Osimhen sometimes “cheats” just to make sure he comes out on top. For Iwobi, that edge is exactly what makes Osimhen such a feared and successful striker.
