Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has spoken out about a video that went viral showing what many fans thought was the team’s accommodation before their crucial World Cup qualifying match in Morocco.

Nigerian fans criticized the facility, with some calling it unsuitable for national players, drawing comparisons to a school hostel.

However, Iwobi clarified that the building shown was not their official hotel, but a view from his window. Media officer Promise Efoghe explained the team is actually staying at Rive Hotel, a modern hotel selected for its proximity to the stadium. The video had mistakenly led to confusion when it was assumed to be the squad’s actual quarters.

Iwobi addressed critics in a Snapchat video, saying, “I didn’t say anything; I just showed the video. It’s all about perspective… I never said a word. Some people don’t even have beds.” He added he was comfortable, focused, and ready for the upcoming game: “Bro, I’m comfy. I’m playing Mario Kart. Anyways, let me go and focus, I have a big game coming up.”

The Super Eagles are in camp preparing for Thursday’s vital World Cup qualifying playoff against Gabon.
