Albert Sambi Lokonga continues solo training in cautious HSV comeback plan
Hamburger SV midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga remains on an individual training programme as he works his way back from a thigh injury.
According to Hamburger Abendblatt, the Belgian once again completed only a separate session on the pitch on Wednesday, away from the rest of the squad.
Lokonga is still in the build-up phase of his recovery and has not yet been cleared to rejoin full team training. With every additional day working alone, his chances of featuring in Saturday’s home game against TSG Hoffenheim (18:30) decrease further. Given his recent injury history, HSV are determined not to rush him and risk a setback, especially when it comes to any potential start.
The club are expected to adopt a very careful approach, focusing on long-term fitness rather than short-term gains. Whether Lokonga can at least make the matchday squad will depend on how he responds in the next few days and whether he is able to complete at least one session with the team. For now, a competitive return this weekend appears uncertain, but his gradual progress keeps hope alive for the coming matches.
