Alban Lafont has completed a permanent transfer from FC Nantes to Turkish Süper Lig newcomers Amedspor, ending his five-year stay with the French club after signing a three-year contract.

According to L’Équipe, the 27-year-old goalkeeper joins the newly promoted Turkish side in a deal worth €1 million, as he begins the next chapter of his career in Türkiye.

Lafont leaves Nantes after five seasons

Lafont departs Nantes after making 198 appearances for the Ligue 1 club across five seasons.

The goalkeeper initially joined Nantes on loan before the move was made permanent in 2021 for a reported fee of €7.5 million.

During his time with the French side, Lafont established himself as a regular between the posts and became one of the club’s most experienced players before moving on this summer.

His departure brings an end to a lengthy spell in western France as he prepares for a new challenge in Turkish football.

Three-year contract with Amedspor

The goalkeeper has signed a three-year agreement with Amedspor, who recently secured promotion to the Turkish Süper Lig.

The newly promoted club reportedly paid €1 million to complete the transfer, strengthening their squad ahead of their first season back in the top flight.

Lafont arrives with significant experience after several seasons in French football and is expected to begin his new adventure in Türkiye immediately.

The move also represents a fresh opportunity for the goalkeeper following a productive campaign away from Nantes.

Successful loan spell before transfer

Before completing his move to Amedspor, Lafont spent last season on loan at Panathinaikos.

During his spell with the Greek club, he made 37 appearances, gaining regular playing time and adding further experience before returning to Nantes.

His performances in Greece came ahead of the permanent move to Türkiye, where he will now continue his career with Amedspor.

Lafont also travelled with his national team to the most recent FIFA World Cup in the United States.

Although he was included in the squad for the tournament, he did not feature in any of the matches.

New chapter in Türkiye

The transfer marks a significant change in Lafont’s career after several years in French football.

Having spent five seasons at Nantes and enjoyed a successful loan spell with Panathinaikos, the goalkeeper will now test himself in the Turkish Süper Lig with one of its newest clubs.

For Amedspor, the signing brings an experienced goalkeeper to the squad as the club prepares for life in the top division.

For Lafont, it offers the chance to begin a new challenge with a long-term contract and continue his career in a different footballing environment.
