Alassane Coulibaly: Mali defender joins Rahimo FC from El Merriekh FC on long-term deal

Mali centre-back Alassane Coulibaly has joined Rahimo FC from El Merriekh FC, signing a contract with the Burkinabe side until 30 June 2028.

The 26-year-old, who stands at 1.85m and plays predominantly on the right side of central defence, completed his move on 24 July 2026. He becomes the latest addition to Rahimo’s back line as the club reshapes its squad ahead of the new campaign.

Coulibaly arrives after a spell with El Merriekh FC, whom he joined in July 2024 following a free transfer from Nouakchott King. His time there offered him regular football and exposure in a different environment, paving the way for his latest switch to Burkina Faso.

Before his move to El Merriekh, the Bamako-born defender had built up experience across several West African clubs. He first made his mark with ASC Police from November 2020, earning a transfer to Casa Sports in July 2022. A subsequent free move to Nouakchott King in 2023 continued his upward trajectory and kept him in the shop window for clubs across the region.

Right-footed and operating primarily as a central defender, Coulibaly will now look to establish himself in Rahimo FC’s defensive unit over the duration of his two-year deal. The move confirms his status as the latest international recruit to join the Burkinabe club’s ranks.
