Alan Do Marcolino reflects on loan move to US Orléans

Gabonese international Alan Do Marcolino has spoken out following his loan transfer to US Orléans from Stade Rennais. Despite being contracted with the Ligue 1 side until 2026, the 22-year-old forward has joined Orléans in search of more regular playing time after facing stiff competition for a spot in the Rennes lineup.

Following the announcement of his loan, Marcolino sat down with Gaboneco to discuss the reasons behind his move and his aspirations for the upcoming season.

Reflecting on the decision to leave Rennes temporarily, he emphasized the need for consistent minutes to continue developing his game.

“It was a carefully considered decision. Last season, I went out on loan, and it didn’t go well in terms of performances or statistics.

When I returned to Rennes, I was determined to prove that my time at Quevilly-Rouen Métropole was just a setback,” Marcolino explained.

During pre-season, the young striker made a positive impression, featuring regularly and finding the back of the net.

However, as the summer transfer window drew to a close, Marcolino realized that his opportunities for playing time at Rennes would be limited, given the club’s depth and competition in the squad.

“I played several matches during pre-season and scored some goals. I was even part of the squad for the first game of the season against Olympique Lyonnais.

But as the transfer window progressed, I understood that it would be difficult to secure enough playing time,” he said.

The decision to seek a loan move was made after discussions with his family, agent, and the club.

Marcolino expressed his enthusiasm for the project offered by US Orléans, a team competing in France’s third-tier National league.

He sees the move as a perfect opportunity to gain valuable experience.

“The Orléans project appealed to us. It fits my abilities and aligns with what I need in terms of minutes and playing philosophy.

I’m really happy to join this club, which is one of the best in the National league,” Marcolino added.

As he embarks on this new chapter, Marcolino is focused on contributing to Orléans’ success and making an impact on the pitch.

His primary goals for the season include helping the team compete at the top of the table and rediscovering the joy of scoring goals.

“My aim with Orléans is to play consistently, perform well, and help my teammates by scoring goals and providing assists.

The National league is a great springboard for young players, and I’m excited to get started,” he noted, eager to make his debut for the club.

Marcolino also has his eyes on returning to the Gabon national team, where he hopes to cement his place alongside players like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, whom he admires and seeks to learn from.

“In Orléans, I’ll have more playing time, which will allow me to showcase my abilities and remain competitive for the national team.

The expectations for the Panthers are always high, and I’m looking forward to contributing.

I’m always ready to learn from experienced players like Aubameyang, and it’s a privilege to be part of the national setup,” Marcolino concluded.

As he prepares for his first match in Orléans colours, Marcolino is keen to seize the opportunity to prove himself at club level and continue his development as one of Gabon’s promising young talents.
