Olympique de Marseille to Begin Season Without Alaixys Romao
Olympique de Marseille will start their 2014-15 Ligue 1 campaign without midfielder Alaixys Romao, who is suspended for the opening fixture against Bastia on August 9th. The Togolese international received a suspension after accumulating three yellow cards in the final ten matches of last season, in accordance with league regulations.
Romao, a versatile player frequently deployed in central defense during Marseille’s pre-season friendlies, is expected to be a key absence for new head coach Marcelo Bielsa. The midfielder was booked in matches against Montpellier (2-3, Matchday 33), Lyon (4-2, Matchday 36), and Bordeaux (1-1, Matchday 37) last season.
The match will be refereed by Lionel Jaffredo, with assistance from Philippe Tugdual and Pierre Chevreux. Jerome Miguelgorry will serve as the fourth official.
