Al-Wehdat meet Emad El-Nahas as new coach prepares for Jordan arrival

Al-Wehdat president Yousef Al-Saqour has met new head coach Emad El-Nahas in Cairo to finalise the details of his appointment and the contracts of his technical staff.

El-Nahas is set to begin another coaching spell outside the Egyptian league, having previously managed Iraqi club Al-Zawraa.

Al-Wehdat said on Facebook: “The president of Al-Wehdat Club, Yousef Al-Saqour, met the new Egyptian head coach of the Al-Wehdat team, Emad El-Nahas, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to agree all the details relating to the contracts of the new technical staff.”

The club added: “The new technical staff will arrive in Jordan on Thursday evening to prepare the football team for the resumption of its campaign in the Jordanian Professional Football League next month, during the current suspension of football competitions in Jordan.”

The coaching team is expected to comprise:

– Emad El-Nahas – head coach – Mohamed Mohsen Abu Greisha – assistant coach – Abdelrahman Farouk – assistant coach – Ayman Mohamed – performance analyst

Al-Wehdat are eighth in the league table after three rounds, with two points.

They have drawn 0-0 with Al-Faisaly and Al-Salt, while their other league match ended in a 1-0 defeat by Al-Ramtha.

The club also lost 2-1 to Al-Faisaly in the semi-final of the Jordanian Super Cup.

Those results led Al-Wehdat to dismiss head coach Wasim Al-Bazour and his coaching staff because of poor results.

The club’s meeting with El-Nahas in Cairo was held as the two sides worked to complete the arrangements for the new coaching team before the squad begins preparations for the league’s return.

Al-Wehdat have won the Jordanian league title 17 times, with their most recent championship coming in 2021.
