Al-Shabab forward Hammam Al-Hamami faces Al-Ittihad absence after Saudi Arabia injury
Al-Shabab forward Hammam Al-Hamami is a doubt for next week’s Saudi Pro League meeting with Al-Ittihad after suffering a second-degree muscle tear while representing Saudi Arabia at the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup.
Al-Shabab confirmed the injury in a statement published on its official X account on 10 October 2026. The club said Al-Hamami would begin a treatment and rehabilitation programme under the supervision of its medical staff.
The injury rules the young Saudi winger out of Al-Shabab’s match against Al-Taawoun in Riyadh on Sunday, which is the club’s fixture in the eighth round of the Saudi Pro League.
However, the more significant concern is his potential absence from the trip to Jeddah to face Al-Ittihad on Friday. That match, at Al-Inmaa Stadium, will be played in the ninth round of the competition.
Al-Hamami was one of the leading figures in Saudi Arabia’s success at the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup, helping the national side end a 23-year wait for the title. His performances also earned him the tournament’s best player award.
