Qatar Stars League club Al Sadd have strengthened their squad with the addition of Moroccan right-back Younes El Hannach from Al Shamal on a season-long loan, in a deal that saw Spanish youngster Pau Prim move the opposite way.
The move comes as part of Al Sadd’s ongoing push to maintain their title challenge while ensuring younger talents receive regular playing time.
Al Sadd officially confirmed the acquisition via their X account, welcoming El Hannach to the squad. The club simultaneously announced the loan of Prim to Al Shamal, a decision aimed at giving the Spanish teenager more minutes on the pitch to aid his development.
At 21 years old, El Hannach joined Al Shamal in 2023 from Paris Saint-Germain, where he had an impressive spell with the U19 side, appearing in 46 matches. He has also represented France at U18 and U19 levels but has since established himself in Qatar, quickly gaining recognition for his consistency and versatility as a right-back.
During his time at Al Shamal, El Hannach played 62 matches across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing three assists. In league play alone, he made 49 appearances, netting two goals and delivering one assist, highlighting his growing influence and readiness to compete at a higher level.
Prim, 19, joined Al Sadd from Barcelona on a four-year deal until 2029 after progressing through the Spanish club’s youth and reserve teams. However, under Italian coach Roberto Mancini, his opportunities have been limited to just two appearances totaling 18 minutes. The loan to Al Shamal is designed to provide him with consistent game time and accelerate his development.
Al Sadd currently sit second in the Qatar Stars League with 26 points, trailing leaders Al Duhail by five. They are riding a wave of momentum after securing a 2-0 win over Al Ahli in Round 13, marking their fifth consecutive league victory and keeping them firmly in contention for a third successive league crown.
