Al Qadsiah complete signing of Moroccan left-back Soufiane El Karouani until 2029
Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsiah have officially announced the signing of Moroccan left-back Soufiane El Karouani from Dutch side FC Utrecht on a long-term contract running until the summer of 2029.
The deal represents a major reinforcement for the Saudi side as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season, with El Karouani expected to play a key role on the left flank.
The 25-year-old joins after an impressive spell in the Netherlands, where he established himself as one of the most consistent attacking full-backs in the league.
El Karouani’s transfer was driven by his standout performances in Dutch football, where he gained recognition for his pace, offensive contribution, and ability to influence matches in the final third. His attacking instincts, combined with defensive reliability, made him a highly sought-after target in the transfer market.
During his time with FC Utrecht, El Karouani made 292 appearances across all competitions, scoring 15 goals and providing 44 assists. These numbers underline his importance to the team over multiple seasons, particularly his ability to contribute significantly in both defensive duties and attacking transitions.
The Saudi club highlighted that these statistics reflect the technical and tactical value he is expected to bring to the squad. His consistency, experience, and high-level exposure in European football were key factors behind the decision to secure his services.
El Karouani’s arrival is expected to strengthen Al-Qadisiyah’s defensive structure while also adding an extra dimension in attack, particularly through overlapping runs, crosses, and build-up support from deep areas. His versatility on the left side is seen as an important asset in the club’s long-term sporting project.
The move also aligns with the growing trend of Saudi clubs investing in players with European league experience as they aim to increase competitiveness domestically and in continental competitions.
With the transfer now finalized, Al-Qadisiyah FC will be hoping El Karouani adapts quickly and becomes a key figure in their ambitions for the coming seasons.
