Al Wasl have yet to arrive in Riyadh for Monday’s AFC Champions League Elite match against Al Nassr, raising the possibility that the fixture could be postponed.
The report by Asharq Al-Awsat said the UAE club had still not reached the Saudi capital, despite the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and Al Nassr completing the arrangements required for the team’s arrival.
All official permissions and the organisational and logistical procedures needed for Al Wasl to travel to Riyadh had reportedly been put in place.
The refereeing team and match commissioner appointed by the Asian Football Confederation have already arrived in Riyadh. However, the Al Wasl delegation remains absent.
The AFC competitions committee is considering several options to determine the outcome of the fixture, according to the report.
The match could go ahead as scheduled. Alternatively, Al Wasl could be deemed to have withdrawn if they fail to attend, with the points awarded to Al Nassr. A third option would be for the continental governing body to postpone the game and set a later date.
