Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr FC have initiated negotiations for Al Ahly SC and Egypt national team goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy, tabling an initial bid of up to US$10 million.

The move comes amid uncertainty over David Ospina’s future with Al Nassr, the former Arsenal keeper who sustained a season-ending elbow injury after joining the Saudi club in July 2022.

El Shenawy, aged 35, has become the prime target for Al-Nassr, especially after showcasing outstanding performances in the recent Club World Cup held in Saudi Arabia.

Ahmed Hassan, the Egyptian football legend turned pundit, disclosed the offer on his TV show ‘El-Captain’ on DMC, stating that Al-Nassr aims to secure the experienced goalkeeper for their squad.

If the deal materializes, El Shenawy is expected to receive an annual salary of $3 million from the Riyadh-based club.

This isn’t the first time El-Shennawy has been courted by Saudi clubs, as he reportedly turned down a similar offer last year.

As Al Nassr seeks to bolster their goalkeeping ranks, the $10 million bid represents a significant move in the ongoing football transfer dynamics between Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
