Saudi Arabian giants Al-Nassr have made a bold approach in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen’s standout defender Edmond Tapsoba, offering a significant financial package in hopes of luring the Burkinabe international away from Germany. The Saudi club is reportedly prepared to make a substantial investment to strengthen their defense as they gear up to compete with domestic rivals Al-Hilal in the upcoming season.

Al-Nassr’s interest in Tapsoba comes as the Saudi Pro League’s transfer window remains open, with several high-profile clubs eager to make last-minute additions to their squads.

In their search for defensive reinforcement, Tapsoba has emerged as a prime target.

The 25-year-old center-back, who has been a key figure for Bayer Leverkusen, is seen as a player who could provide Al-Nassr with the solidity they need at the back.

Tapsoba’s impressive performances for Bayer Leverkusen have not gone unnoticed.

Since joining the German club in 2020 from Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães, he has established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in the Bundesliga.

Last season, the Burkinabe international was instrumental in Leverkusen’s success under the leadership of head coach Xabi Alonso.

Tapsoba made 46 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing one assist, as his team finished the league season unbeaten and reached the final of the Europa League.

One of Tapsoba’s highlights last season came in the German Super Cup, where he played a crucial role in Leverkusen’s victory over Stuttgart.

His contributions helped his team secure the trophy, underscoring his importance to the club.

Despite his success, Tapsoba remains in high demand, with clubs from across Europe and beyond expressing interest in his services.

Al-Nassr is reportedly prepared to offer a staggering €50 million to Bayer Leverkusen in an effort to secure Tapsoba’s transfer.

This figure represents more than double the amount that Leverkusen originally paid to sign the defender from Vitória Guimarães three years ago.

In addition to the transfer fee, Al-Nassr is willing to offer Tapsoba a lucrative annual salary of €20 million, a financial package that would be hard for many players to ignore.

Despite the significant interest from Al-Nassr, Tapsoba has so far remained committed to Bayer Leverkusen.

The player recently turned down a potential move to Paris Saint-Germain, citing his happiness at Leverkusen and the strong team chemistry that exists within the club.

“I am happy to be associated with clubs as important as PSG,” Tapsoba said.

It shows that I am doing a good job, but I feel very good, and at home, in Leverkusen. Our strength is the cohesion within the team, in the locker room and also in private life.

From day one, the association, and in particular Simon Rolfes, did everything possible to make me feel at home.”

Tapsoba’s current contract with Leverkusen runs until June 2028, and the club remains keen to keep hold of their star defender.

However, the scale of Al-Nassr’s offer could give both the player and the German club something to think about, as the financial package on the table is substantial.

As the transfer window draws closer to its conclusion, the coming days will reveal whether Al-Nassr’s ambitious move for Tapsoba will be successful.

For now, the Burkinabe defender continues to focus on his commitments at Leverkusen, where he remains a central figure in the team’s plans for the season.

However, with such a significant offer on the table, the decision may ultimately rest with the player and his future aspirations.
