Mohamed Shoukry joins Al Masry from Al Ahly

Al-Masry have completed the signing of Egyptian left-back Mohamed Shoukry from Al Ahly in the current summer transfer window.

Shoukry joins the Port Said-based outfit as their fourth summer signing as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.

The enterprising defender signed a four-year contract and is expected to play a huge role in the upcoming campaign for Al Masry.

The move marks a new chapter in the career of the 27-year-old defender, who is regarded as one of the talented full-backs in Egyptian football.

“Al-Masry Club’s board of directors, headed by Kamel Abu Ali, has completed the fourth deal to strengthen the first football team before the start of the new season after signing Mohamed Shukri, an Al Ahly player, on a permanent transfer for four seasons starting from the current summer transfer period,” the club stated.

Shoukry began his football journey through Al Ahly’s youth system, where he developed his skills before making the decision to leave the club in search of regular first-team opportunities. Around four seasons ago, he joined Ceramica Cleopatra, where he gained valuable experience competing in the Egyptian Premier League.

His consistent performances with Ceramica Cleopatra earned him recognition and eventually opened the door for a return to Al Ahly at the beginning of last season. However, with limited opportunities at the Cairo giants, the defender has now opted for a permanent move to Al-Masry in search of more playing time and a bigger role.

The transfer is part of Al-Masry’s ambitious recruitment strategy as the club aims to build a competitive squad capable of challenging on multiple fronts during the upcoming campaign.

Before securing Shoukry’s signature, Al-Masry had already completed three other summer additions. The club strengthened its attacking options with the signing of Moroccan forward Abdullah Al-Zayani from Moroccan side Difaa Hassani El Jadidi.

They also added midfielder Yassin Al-Mallah from Pharco and defender Mostafa Al-Ash as part of efforts to improve squad depth and provide head coach with more quality options ahead of the new season.

For Al-Masry, the arrival of Shoukry represents an important addition, particularly given the importance of the left-back position in modern football. His experience, defensive ability and familiarity with Egyptian league football are expected to provide valuable competition within the squad.

The player will now begin preparations with his new teammates as Al-Masry continue building their squad ahead of the start of official competitions, with supporters hoping that the former Al Ahly defender can play a key role in the club’s ambitions.
