Al-Karma complete signing of Marwan Hamdy from Pyramids

Al-Karma have announced the signing of Egyptian forward Marwan Hamdy from Pyramids, confirming a move that had been reported as close to completion earlier by FilGoal.com.

The Iraqi club revealed the transfer in a video published under the title “من ام الدنيا الى بلد الحضارة”, meaning “From the Mother of the World to the Land of Civilisation”. The announcement was made on Sunday, 9 August 2026.

Hamdy joins Al-Karma after a spell with Pyramids, where he won a number of major honours and made 95 appearances. During that time, he scored 26 goals and provided nine assists.

The 29-year-old helped Pyramids win the CAF Champions League in the season before last. He was also part of the squad that lifted the African Super Cup, the Three Continents Cup and the Egypt Cup.

The move takes Hamdy into a new chapter of his career under manager Momen Soliman, who is in charge of Al-Karma. The Iraqi side already includes several players with experience of Egyptian football, including former Al Ahly player Ahmed Abdel Kader and Nigerian forward Samuel Amadi.

Ahmed Abdel Kader is close to joining Pyramids, while Amadi recently moved to Al-Karma from Ceramica Cleopatra. Their presence gives the Iraqi club further links with the Egyptian game as it continues to strengthen its squad.

Hamdy began his career with Al Nasr before moving to Misr Lel Makkasa. He then played for Wadi Degla, continuing a progression through several Egyptian clubs.

His next move took him to Zamalek, where he won the Egyptian league title. After leaving Zamalek, Hamdy joined Al Masry before completing his move to Pyramids.

At Pyramids, he became part of a team that collected domestic and continental silverware, including the club’s CAF Champions League triumph in the season before last. His record of 26 goals and nine assists in 95 matches was recorded during his time with the Egyptian club.

FilGoal.com had previously reported that Hamdy was close to joining the Iraqi team. Al-Karma’s video announcement now confirms the transfer and formally presents the Egypt international as the latest addition to Soliman’s squad.

The signing adds another player with experience of winning major honours in Egypt and African competitions to an Al-Karma squad that also features Abdel Kader and Amadi. For Hamdy, the move represents a departure from Pyramids after an important spell in which he contributed to the club’s success across several competitions.
