Al Jazira sign Brazilian forward Anderson Talisca from Fenerbahce

Al Jazira have announced the signing of Brazilian forward Anderson Talisca from Turkish club Fenerbahce.

The 32-year-old will wear the number 94 shirt at the UAE club, who have confirmed him as their latest arrival during the current transfer window.

Turkish broadcaster A Spor had previously reported that Talisca would move to the United Arab Emirates without a transfer fee. Fenerbahce were keen to part company with the forward because of his high salary, while clubs in the Turkish league continue to operate under restrictions on the number of foreign players they can register.

Talisca’s move takes Al Jazira’s number of officially confirmed signings in this transfer window to nine. Their incoming players are Anthony Dennis, Milson, Salih Malkocoglu, Cristian Asllani, Nermin Mujkic, Malcom, Talisca, Ersin Destanoglu and Ruben Amaral.

The summer transfer window in the United Arab Emirates is scheduled to close on 28 September.

Talisca leaves Fenerbahce after scoring 44 goals and providing seven assists in 75 appearances for the Turkish club. His arrival gives Al Jazira an experienced attacking option as they compete at the top of the UAE league.

Al Jazira currently lead the league standings with nine points, level with Al Ain and Shabab Al Ahli Dubai.

The Brazilian began his European career with Benfica before moving to the Chinese club Evergreen. He later joined Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr, then continued his career in Turkey with Fenerbahce.

Al Jazira’s announcement completes a busy period of recruitment for the club, with Talisca joining a list of additions that includes players from several different leagues and national backgrounds. His previous record at Fenerbahce, particularly his goalscoring return across 75 matches, is the main feature of the latest signing.

For Fenerbahce, the departure removes a high-earning player from their squad amid the foreign-player limit in Turkish football. For Al Jazira, the agreement adds a forward with experience in Portugal, China, Saudi Arabia and Turkey to a team currently sharing first place in the UAE standings.

The club’s nine confirmed signings have arrived before the UAE window’s 28 September deadline, with Al Jazira now able to include Talisca in their squad wearing the number 94 shirt.
