Al-Jabalain bring in Cape Verdean-Portuguese midfielder Yannick Semedo
Cape Verdean-Portuguese midfielder Yannick Semedo has joined Saudi Arabian club Al-Jabalain from Farense on a free transfer, adding a 30-year-old central midfielder to the Saudi First Division League side.
Semedo leaves Farense after featuring for the Portuguese club, who compete in Liga Portugal 2. His move takes him from Portugal’s second tier to Saudi Arabia’s second division, marking a change of domestic competition and footballing environment for the experienced midfielder.
The player’s primary position is central midfield, where he has been used in the middle of the pitch. His age and role provide Al-Jabalain with an established addition as they strengthen their squad for competition in the Saudi First Division League.
Semedo holds both Cape Verdean and Portuguese nationality. His transfer also represents a move between clubs based in different countries, with Farense located in Portugal and Al-Jabalain based in Saudi Arabia.
The deal was completed without a transfer fee. Semedo’s listed market value is €250,000, but Al-Jabalain secured his services as a free agent in the completed transaction.
The move brings the midfielder’s time with Farense to an end and begins his spell with Al-Jabalain. Yannick Semedo’s free transfer was completed on 12 August 2026.
