Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ittihad have set sights on securing the signature of Egyptian international Mohammed Salah as a replacement from Karim Benzema after Al Hilal switch.
The former Real Madrid star secured a move to Al Hilal in the recently concluded winter transfer window, bringing an end to his over two-year spell at the club.
Backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), Al Ittihad are expected to renew their attempt to sign Mohamed Salah next summer. The league’s management has long dreamed of making Salah the face of their ambitious project alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, and now appears to be the perfect opportunity to make that vision a reality.
The need for a marquee signing arose after Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema departed Al-Ittihad during the winter transfer window to join rivals, Al Hilal.
Benzema’s exit has left a massive gap in the club’s attacking line, and Salah is seen as the ideal figure to fill that void both on the pitch and as a global brand ambassador.
This season at Liverpool has been a mixed one for Salah. After a brilliant previous campaign, where the Egyptian helped Arne Slot clinched the Premier League title in his debut season, his goal tally has dipped.
Salah has scored just 6 goals and provided 6 assists for Liverpool across all competitions in the current campaign, undermining his attacking threat.
With his contract expiring in summer 2027, Liverpool will look to cash in on the Egyptian international as his future at the club continues to decline.
