Al-Ittihad make official move for Morocco midfielder Ounahi

Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad have reportedly submitted an official bid to sign Morocco midfielder Azzedine Ounahi from Spanish club Girona.

According to Saudi journalist Mohamed Al-Bakiri, the Saudi club has moved into a strong position to secure the 27-year-old, although negotiations between the two clubs are still ongoing.

The report says Ounahi’s release clause is set at €20 million, with Al-Ittihad seeking to pay the fee in two or three instalments rather than as a lump sum. Girona’s response is expected to determine whether the transfer advances in the coming days.

Impressive first season in Spain

Ounahi joined Girona from Olympique de Marseille in the summer of 2025 after signing a contract that runs until June 2030.

The Morocco international impressed during his debut campaign in La Liga, featuring in 24 matches across all competitions while scoring five goals and providing two assists.

His displays for Girona, coupled with his continued influence for the Atlas Lions, have strengthened his reputation as one of Africa’s leading midfielders.

Future yet to be decided

The midfielder’s technical quality and versatility have continued to attract interest, making him a sought-after option during the current transfer window.

Despite reports linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia, neither Girona nor Al-Ittihad has publicly commented on the negotiations.
