Al-Ittihad maintain unbeaten start to move top of Roshn Saudi League

Al-Ittihad strengthened their position at the summit of the Roshn Saudi League with a 3-1 victory over Al-Faisaly on Friday, preserving their unbeaten record after the opening seven rounds of the season.

The result continued Al-Ittihad’s impressive start and gave them three more points after an attacking performance that secured an important win against Al-Faisaly. The club have remained among the leading sides since the beginning of the campaign under German manager Yens Vising.

The victory also carried historical significance for Al-Ittihad. The Jeddah-based club have now avoided defeat in each of their first seven league matches, achieving that feat for the fifth time since the beginning of the professional era in the Saudi league.

That era began in the 2008-09 season.

Al-Ittihad’s latest achievement underlines the strength of their opening to the campaign. They have kept their unbeaten record intact through the first seven rounds despite facing different opponents and dealing with varying circumstances across their matches.

The three points lifted Al-Ittihad to 17 points and placed them temporarily at the top of the Roshn Saudi League table. They are two points clear of Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr, although the standings could change when their rivals play their matches in the current round.

The win over Al-Faisaly provides further momentum for Al-Ittihad as they continue their campaign. Their results in the opening weeks have established them as one of the leading contenders for the title and enabled them to remain among the league’s top clubs.
