Al-Ittihad Alexandria will head into their Egyptian Premier League opener tomorrow against Al-Masry with key absences in defense, leaving coach Ahmed Sami with limited options.
Veteran center-back Mahmoud Alaa has been ruled out due to injury, dealing a blow to Al-Ittihad’s backline. In a surprise move, Zamalek loanee Ahmed Mahmoud has also been left out of the squad, along with new recruit Abdel Rahman Gouda from Pyramids. The coaching staff cited technical decisions behind their exclusion.
Despite the challenges, the Alexandria-based club remains optimistic as they prepare to kick off the new season.
The squad list features three goalkeepers: Mahmoud Abdel Rahim “Ghanesh,” Sobhi Soliman, and Youssef Nader.
Defenders include Mahmoud Shabana, Karim El-Deeb, Mostafa Ibrahim, Mohamed Sami, Abdel Rahman Boudi, and Amr Saleh.
Midfield options are Van Dirk, Abdelghani Mohamed, Mohamed Kanaria, Mohamed Tony, Nour Alaa, Abu Bakr Lyadi, Hesham Adel, Nasser Nasser, Favor Akim, Isaac Isaac, and Amr Gomaa.
Leading the attack are Fadi Farid, John Ebuka, and Mahmoud Ajib.
