Al-Ittihad are set to welcome back defender Ahmed Sharahili after the upcoming international break as he nears the end of his rehabilitation programme.
Saudi Arabia will host the Gulf Cup from 23 September to 6 October.
According to Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah, Sharahili is preparing to step up his fitness work during the final stage of his recovery. The next phase will be aimed at enabling him to return to full team training.
The defender suffered an injury to his left ankle in early July while completing an individual pre-season programme with his personal coach. The injury occurred in an area that had not previously caused him problems.
Sharahili gradually returned to action last season after undergoing surgery on his cruciate ligament. He went on to make 20 appearances in all competitions.
Al-Ittihad are second in the Saudi league table with 17 points, one point behind leaders Al-Hilal, who have 18.
