Al-Ittihad consider Wolfsburg forward Mohamed Amine Amoura as Moussa Diaby replacement

Al-Ittihad are considering a move for Algeria international Mohamed Amine Amoura as a possible replacement for French forward Moussa Diaby during the summer transfer window.

Amoura, who plays for German club Wolfsburg, has emerged as one of the options being assessed by the Saudi Pro League side if Diaby leaves. Saudi newspaper Al Youm reported the development, citing German newspaper Bild.

However, Diaby’s potential transfer to Bayer Leverkusen remains unresolved. Negotiations between the parties are continuing, with no final agreement yet reached and discussions still characterised by disagreement over the terms.

That uncertainty means Al-Ittihad’s plans for a replacement remain closely linked to the outcome of the talks involving Diaby. The club’s interest in Amoura is therefore understood in the context of the Frenchman’s still-open future, with the situation expected to become clearer in the coming days.

Amoura has made an impression in the Bundesliga since joining Wolfsburg and has demonstrated his ability to contribute both as a scorer and a creator. During the 2025-26 season, he played 30 league matches, scoring eight goals and providing three assists.

The 26-year-old is capable of operating in more than one attacking position, a versatility that has placed him among the names being considered by Al-Ittihad. His ability to play across the forward line is also reflected in the growing interest surrounding his situation.

Amoura began his career in Algeria with ES Setif before moving to Swiss club Lugano. He then continued his development in Belgium with Union Saint-Gilloise, from where he secured a move to Wolfsburg in Germany.

Alongside his club experience, Amoura has represented the Algeria national team at international level. That background adds to the profile of a forward who has played in several European leagues before establishing himself in the Bundesliga.

For now, though, the immediate priority for Al-Ittihad is linked to Diaby’s position. The Frenchman has not completed a move to Bayer Leverkusen, and until negotiations over that transfer are settled, the Saudi club’s search for a potential successor remains provisional.

Amoura’s name is consequently part of a wider list of possibilities rather than a confirmed transfer target. Any decision over a move for the Wolfsburg forward is expected to depend to a large extent on whether Diaby ultimately leaves and how the discussions with Bayer Leverkusen develop.
