Al-Ittihad boss Yens Vising unhappy despite convincing Al-Faisaly win

Yens Vising praised Al-Ittihad’s 3-1 victory over Al-Faisaly but admitted he was disappointed that his side conceded a goal in Friday evening’s Roshn Saudi League meeting.

The German manager said Al-Ittihad deserved to take all three points in the seventh round of the competition and was pleased that the result lifted the club higher in the standings.

“We achieved a deserved victory and moved up the table, which certainly makes me happy,” Vising said at his post-match news conference. “But I am sad that we conceded a goal. The most important thing is winning and collecting the three points.”

His comments underlined the importance he places on combining positive results with defensive strength.

Vising also praised his players for the level of their performance throughout the match, saying Al-Ittihad had produced a strong tactical display. That organisation, he added, enabled the team to impose its style and secure victory against Al-Faisaly.

“The players showed a high level of tactical discipline,” he said. “We rely on rotation between matches because of the congested schedule and the presence of other commitments.”

The coach said rotating his squad was a central part of his approach to managing the demands of a busy run of fixtures.

Vising then reflected on Al-Ittihad’s recent form and expressed his satisfaction that the team had maintained an unbeaten record in its recent matches, both in the league and in the King’s Cup.

“I am happy that the team has not suffered a defeat in the recent league rounds and in the King’s Cup, and I expected that,” he said.

The German suggested those results were the product of consistent work within the squad rather than a matter of chance.

However, Vising stressed that Al-Ittihad had not yet reached its best level and that development remained an ongoing process.

“We are still improving, and we are focusing on the technical and mental aspects,” he said.
