Al Ittihad Alexandria to cover Fan ID renewal for supporters ahead of new season
Al Ittihad Alexandria’s board, led by Mohamed Salama, will pay for the renewal of Fan ID cards for the club’s supporters as part of preparations for the new season.
The decision means fans will not have to cover the renewal cost themselves. Tazkarty has announced that Fan ID renewals for the new campaign will cost 220 Egyptian pounds.
In a statement, Al Ittihad Alexandria said the move was intended to support its supporters and make it easier for them to attend the team’s matches.
The club said: “As part of the keenness of the board of directors of Al Ittihad Alexandria Club, headed by Mohamed Salama, to support its great supporters and facilitate their attendance at the team’s matches, and because strengthening the presence of its loyal supporters in the stands is one of its priorities, the board announces the renewal of Fan ID for the great supporters of the Master of the Tide.”
The statement added: “This initiative comes as a decision by the board of directors to support Al Ittihad supporters and facilitate their participation, while confirming that the supporters are the real backbone and the greatest source of support for the team’s journey.”
It continued: “You are the fundamental pillar and the strength of belonging that gives the players determination and resolve. The renewal procedures will take place at the club’s Smouha branch.”
The Egyptian Premier League is scheduled to begin on 21 August, with the first phase due to conclude on 20 February.
The second phase is set to start on 8 March and finish on 28 May, provided there is no change to the May schedule because of the finals of continental competitions. That possibility was outlined by Taha Ezzat, chairman of the competitions committee.
The league will be played in two phases. The opening phase will consist of a single round-robin competition, with each of the 20 teams playing 19 rounds.
After that, the competition will split into two groups. The six highest-placed teams will compete for the title, while the teams finishing from seventh to 20th will play to avoid relegation.
Each team will carry into the final phase the same number of points it earned during the opening phase. However, the standings in the final phase will be determined separately within each group, with both groups playing a single round.
If two or more clubs finish level on points, their positions in the table will be decided in accordance with Article 15 of the competition regulations.
The four clubs at the bottom of the second group in the final phase will be relegated to the division below, the Professional League.
