Al Ittihad Alexandria Club has kicked off its preparations for the new season with a major move, signing experienced goalkeeper Mahmoud Abdel Rahim, famously known as Genish.
The 38-year-old shot-stopper has joined the club on a one-year deal after successfully completing his medical. His arrival marks the first official signing for Al Ittihad as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the Egyptian Premier League campaign.
Genish, who brings a wealth of experience from his time with Zamalek, Modern Sport, and Alexandria Olympic Club, is expected to add leadership and stability between the posts.
While the team begins a closed training camp in Alexandria from Monday until July 12, the management has submitted a preliminary squad list of 21 players. Notably missing from the list is goalkeeper Mahdi Suleiman, whose contract has expired.
Al Ittihad has also confirmed Ahmed Sami as their new head coach. His appointment signals a fresh direction for the club, which hopes to climb higher in the standings with a mix of seasoned professionals and young talents.
