Al Ittihad Alexandria agree deal to sign former Zamalek player Anas Wael

Al Ittihad Alexandria have completed an agreement to sign Anas Wael after the player’s departure from Zamalek, according to FilGoal.com.

The deal was reached after Zamalek informed Wael that he would not remain with the club for the 2026-27 season. The move brings an end to his time with Zamalek and sees him join Al Ittihad Alexandria ahead of the new Egyptian Premier League campaign.

Wael was one of four players from Zamalek’s youth team told that they would not continue at the club next season. The other three players were Ahmed Magdy, Abdel Rahman Kamal and Ayman Amir Abdel Aziz.

Zamalek decided to release all four members of its youth set-up as part of its preparations for the upcoming season. Wael subsequently launched a strong criticism of the club’s officials after announcing that his time with the team had come to an end.

The 2026-27 season will begin with Zamalek facing Al Ittihad Alexandria in the opening round of the Egyptian Premier League. That fixture will therefore see Wael’s new club meet his former side at the start of the league campaign.

Zamalek are currently holding a pre-season training camp in the New Administrative Capital as they prepare for a demanding schedule. The club are set to compete in the Egyptian Premier League, the Egypt Cup, the Egyptian League Cup, the CAF Champions League and the Egyptian Super Cup during the new season.

Zamalek won the Egyptian Premier League title last season, securing the championship for the 15th time in the club’s history.

The agreement with Al Ittihad Alexandria follows the decision by Zamalek to part company with Wael and the other three youth-team players. While the club continues its preparations in the New Administrative Capital, Wael will begin the next stage of his career with the side he is due to face in the first league round.

FilGoal.com reported on Saturday, 8 August 2026, that the agreement between Al Ittihad Alexandria and Wael had been completed. The report was published at 11:25 local time and confirmed that the player would join after leaving Zamalek.

Wael’s departure was announced after he was included among the four young players told that they would not continue at Zamalek. His criticism of the club’s officials came after he made public the end of his spell with the team. No further details of his comments were provided in the report.

Zamalek’s opening league fixture against Al Ittihad Alexandria will be their first competitive match of the new season. The club’s wider campaign will also include domestic cup football and continental competition, alongside the Egyptian Super Cup.
