Al Hilal have launched a club-branded bottled water range after signing a five-year partnership with a water company, just 24 hours before their Saudi Pro League meeting with leaders Al Qadsiah.
The new product, named “Al Hilal Water”, will become the Saudi club’s official water for the next five years. The announcement was made on the club’s official website on Thursday, ahead of Friday’s top-of-the-table fixture at Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam.
The launch took place at Kingdom Arena and was accompanied by a video shared by Al Hilal on social media, using the slogan “Al Hilal Water… refreshes you”.
According to the club, the partnership will support the development and launch of a product designed to reflect Al Hilal’s identity and sporting heritage. The club also said it intends to carry out an expansion plan in future, with additional products to follow.
“Al Hilal Water” will be sold in four sizes: 200ml, 300ml, 600ml and 1.5 litres. The packaging has been designed with inspiration from the club’s history and established sporting legacy.
Al Hilal chief executive Steve Calzada said the launch formed part of the club’s wider business development strategy.
“The launch of Al Hilal Water is a new step in the club’s business development journey and in making use of the strength of its brand and intellectual property to build sustainable products and platforms,” Calzada said.
“We recognise the trust and responsibility represented by the Al Hilal name. That is why, through the launch of this product, we are committed to its quality, accessibility and ability to grow, in a way that supports the club’s sporting, economic and social role.”
The club subsequently published photographs showing Al Hilal’s players travelling to Dammam for the match against Al Qadsiah, with the newly launched bottles in their hands.
The fixture will be played in the 11th round of the Saudi Pro League. Al Hilal are second in the table with 24 points, one point behind Al Qadsiah, who lead the standings.
Al Qadsiah have, however, played one more match than Al Hilal. The meeting in Dammam therefore gives the reigning challengers an opportunity to close the gap at the top, while the leaders will seek to maintain their advantage.
