Al-Hilal line up ambitious bid for Bournemouth teenager Rayan

Al-Hilal are preparing to make a formal offer to Bournemouth for 19-year-old Brazilian prospect Rayan in the coming weeks, in what could become one of the most significant moves of the current summer transfer window.

Brazilian newspaper Globo reported on Sunday that the Saudi Pro League club have made Rayan their leading target as they search for a replacement for compatriot Malcom. Malcom spent three seasons with Al-Hilal but is no longer part of Italian manager Simone Inzaghi’s plans for next season.

Al-Hilal’s board has begun assessing potential alternatives to fill the gap that Malcom’s departure would create, while also considering offers for the 32-year-old winger, according to Brazilian sources.

Rayan has attracted attention from a number of leading European and Asian clubs since moving to the Premier League at the start of the year. His performances for Bournemouth, together with his contribution to Brazil at the most recent World Cup, have strengthened his reputation as one of the most promising emerging players in world football.

The teenager appeared in four matches at the tournament, starting three of them and providing one assist. Those performances further enhanced his standing and are expected to intensify the competition for his signature.

Al-Hilal regard Rayan as a long-term investment rather than simply an immediate replacement for Malcom. His age, technical ability and potential for further development are central to the club’s interest. The Saudi side also believe his market value could rise considerably, potentially creating the opportunity for a substantial profit if he is sold in the future, the Brazilian sources said.

Club officials are now examining the terms that could persuade Bournemouth to part with the player. They are also preparing an attractive contract proposal for Rayan before opening direct negotiations in the weeks ahead.

Any agreement is likely to require a major financial commitment. Bournemouth paid 35m euros to sign Rayan from Brazilian club Vasco da Gama in January 2026, and Al-Hilal are aware that the English club would have little incentive to sell him so soon after his arrival without a substantial return.

Despite the likely cost, Al-Hilal are prepared to invest heavily in a player they consider to have considerable sporting and commercial value. The club’s decision-makers believe Rayan’s youth and potential justify stretching their budget, particularly as they seek to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level.

The proposed approach remains at the planning stage, with no formal offer yet submitted to Bournemouth.
