Al Hilal coach Florent Ibenge has raised concerns about the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decision to move the second leg clash against Al Ahly from Libya to Mauritania.
The Sudanese giants are playing home away from home in the ongoing CAF Champions League campaign due to political unrest in the country.
Al Hilal initially opted to host Al Ahly in the second of the quarterfinals clash in Libya but the continental football governing body decided to move the much-anticipated clash to Mauritania instead.
“We are playing away from home, but our goal is undoubtedly to achieve a positive result in the second leg, which will be held a week later in Mauritania.”
“Al Ahly’s name doesn’t need any introduction, it’s the most prominent team in Africa, and I don’t understand why CAF refused to play the second leg in Libya instead of Mauritania,”
Meanwhile, the Congolese gaffer has set sights on securing a positive result against Al Ahly in the first leg clash on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
“Al Ahly is the defending champion and the most prominent candidate, and the match against them will be very strong.”
“We are preparing well for the match, and our goal is to come out with a positive result. I asked our players to enjoy this match.”
