Al Fateh complete signing of Togo defender Kennedy Boateng on two-year deal
Saudi Pro League side Al Fateh have confirmed the signing of Togolese defender Kennedy Boateng on a two-year contract, bringing an end to weeks of speculation surrounding his next destination after leaving Dinamo Bucharest.
The agreement follows a competitive race for the 29-year-old, with Al Fateh securing his signature after submitting an offer that exceeded those made by rival clubs in recent weeks.
The transfer had been widely anticipated after reports that the Saudi club had stepped up efforts to complete the deal.
Boateng had been without a club since departing Romanian side Dinamo Bucharest, leaving uncertainty over where he would continue his career.
That uncertainty has now been resolved with his move to Saudi Arabia, where he is expected to strengthen Al Fateh’s defensive options ahead of the new campaign.
The defender will travel directly to the club’s pre-season training camp in Spain, where he is set to begin preparations with his new teammates.
The training camp will provide his first opportunity to integrate into the squad before the start of the Saudi Pro League season.
Al Fateh believe Boateng’s experience in European football will add quality and stability to their defensive unit.
Throughout his career, he has developed a reputation for his physical presence, strength in aerial duels and consistent defensive performances, qualities the club identified as key attributes during its search for reinforcements.
His arrival represents a new challenge after several seasons in Romanian football. Moving to the Saudi Pro League will see the Togolese international test himself in a different environment while taking on the responsibility of helping to improve Al Fateh’s defence.
The club will hope Boateng’s experience and defensive qualities can provide greater balance at the back as it prepares for the upcoming season.
