Al Fateh interested in signing Zamalek defender Ahmed Fattouh

Al Fateh are interested in signing Zamalek defender Ahmed Fattouh during the summer transfer window, according to Saudi newspaper Al Wiam.

The report says the Saudi club are considering a move for Fattouh, although it is not clear whether Al Fateh have already made contact with Zamalek or whether they are still assessing the possibility of submitting an offer.

No details have been reported about the potential value of any transfer or the terms that could be involved. The available information indicates only that Fattouh has attracted the attention of Al Fateh ahead of the new season.

Fattouh represented Egypt at the 2026 World Cup after beginning the season with Zamalek amid personal problems. He played for the Pharaohs during the tournament but suffered an injury towards the end of the group stage.

That injury ruled him out of Egypt’s round-of-32 and round-of-16 matches. His involvement in the competition therefore ended after the group phase, despite him having been part of the squad for the World Cup.

The defender had also featured for Egypt at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, meaning he has appeared for the national team at both major tournaments before and during the current period of interest from Al Fateh.

The Saudi club have made a change in the dugout ahead of the new campaign. Jose Gomes, the former Zamalek manager, left his position at Al Fateh this summer and subsequently took charge of Al-Khaleej.

Khaled Al-Atwi has since been appointed Al Fateh manager for the new season, which begins on Thursday.

Fattouh’s future remains with Zamalek unless a formal approach or agreement is reached. The report does not confirm that Al Fateh have submitted an offer, and it also does not state whether negotiations between the clubs have begun.
