Al-Faisaly beat Al Hussein Irbid to win Jordanian Super Cup under Tarek Mostafa

Al-Faisaly won the 2026-27 Jordanian Super Cup after defeating Al Hussein Irbid 2-1 in the final at the Amman International Stadium on Friday, securing the trophy under Egyptian manager Tarek Mostafa.

The match was closely contested, but Al-Faisaly made the stronger start and took the lead in the 19th minute. Ahmed Al Ersan converted from the penalty spot to put his side ahead.

Al Hussein Irbid responded after the interval and levelled the score through Mahmoud Dheeb, who scored in the 55th minute.

Both teams competed intensely as they looked to settle the final, with neither side able to establish a decisive advantage for much of the second half. Al-Faisaly eventually found the winning goal six minutes from time, when Anas Al Awadat struck in the 84th minute.

The result completed Al-Faisaly’s run to the trophy after they beat Al Wehdat 2-1 in the semi-finals. Al Hussein Irbid had reached the final with a convincing 5-0 victory over Al-Ramtha.

Four clubs took part in this season’s Jordanian Super Cup: Al-Faisaly, Al Hussein Irbid, Al Wehdat and Al-Ramtha. The semi-finals were played over a single match rather than two legs.

Al-Faisaly entered the competition as last season’s Jordanian Pro League runners-up and winners of the Federation Shield. Al Hussein Irbid qualified as champions of both the league and the Jordan Cup.

The final also included two Egyptian officials among the refereeing team. Mohamed Al Ghazi served as the video assistant referee, while Ahmed Tawfik Talab was appointed as his assistant.

Al-Faisaly’s victory means Mostafa began his spell in charge by guiding the club to silverware in one of the opening fixtures of the new season. The decisive goal from Al Awadat ensured the trophy went to the side that had overcome Al Wehdat in the last four, while Al Hussein Irbid’s hopes of adding the Super Cup to their league and Jordan Cup triumphs were ended in the final stages.

The meeting at the Amman International Stadium provided a competitive conclusion to a four-team tournament in which each semi-final was decided on the day. Al-Faisaly’s penalty gave them an early advantage, but Dheeb’s equaliser kept Al Hussein Irbid in contention before Al Awadat’s late intervention settled the match.
