Al Ettifaq target Moussa Marega as striker reinforcement

Al Ettifaq FC have set their sights on Malian forward Moussa Marega as they look to bolster their attacking options in the wake of Moussa Dembélé’s long-term injury.

The French-Malian striker has been sidelined until at least December 2025 with a ruptured Achilles tendon, leaving the Saudi Pro League side in urgent need of reinforcements.

According to reports from Africafoot, Al Ettifaq have initiated contact with Marega’s representatives to assess the feasibility of a transfer.

The 33-year-old, currently with Al Diriyah FC, has been in fine form, playing a pivotal role in his club’s promotion to the Saudi First Division League.

Marega’s impact in Saudi football

Marega’s experience in Saudi Arabian football makes him an attractive prospect for Al Ettifaq.

The Malian striker has already proven his ability at the highest level in the country, having played 49 matches in the Saudi Pro League with Al Hilal, where he scored 18 goals and provided two assists.

He was a key figure in Al Hilal’s title-winning campaign during the 2021/22 season, earning him the nickname “The Malian Terminator” for his strength, finishing ability, and work rate.

Despite moving to Al Diriyah FC, Marega has continued to showcase his goal-scoring prowess.

His 14 goals in the Saudi third division last season were instrumental in securing his club’s promotion, underlining his ability to perform in crucial moments.

With a contract running until June 2026, Al Diriyah will likely demand a significant fee should Al Ettifaq push forward with negotiations.

A logical replacement for Dembélé

The injury to Dembélé has left Al Ettifaq short of firepower upfront, and Marega’s arrival would provide a much-needed solution.

His physical presence, tactical awareness, and experience in the Saudi league make him an ideal candidate to fill the void left by the former Lyon striker.

While Al Ettifaq are not the only club interested in Marega—having previously been linked with Al Kholood Club—his familiarity with the Saudi top flight could give them an edge in negotiations.

With the transfer window approaching, Al Ettifaq must now decide whether to formalize their interest and secure the services of the Malian forward.

If a deal is struck, Marega could play a crucial role in helping the club navigate the remainder of the season and maintain their competitive edge in the Saudi Pro League.
