Al-Eissa’s Messi-like run keeps him clear at the top of the Jawwy Elite League scoring charts
Muhammad Al-Eissa scored for the fourth consecutive match and produced a goal reminiscent of Lionel Messi as Ettifaq swept aside Al-Wehda 6-0 in the Jawwy Elite League, Saudi Arabia’s Under-21 competition.
The match took place at Ettifaq’s home ground in Dammam on Sunday, with the result coming in the fourth round of the tournament.
Ettifaq’s emphatic victory was shared between five players. Abdulrahman Al-Ruwaili scored twice, while four other players found the net once each.
The standout finish came from striker Al-Eissa in the 71st minute. He collected the ball, skilfully dribbled past two Al-Wehda defenders and then placed his shot into the net.
The move drew comparisons with Argentina great Lionel Messi, who is renowned for weaving past several opponents before finishing calmly.
Al-Eissa’s goal also extended a remarkable scoring sequence. He has now scored in every round of the current Jawwy Elite League campaign, making him the only player to find the net in all four matches so far.
The Ettifaq forward has seven goals this season and has strengthened his position at the top of the scoring chart. Ziyad Aba of Al-Ahli and Jefferson Ramos of Al-Fateh are joint second with four goals each.
Ettifaq also have the league’s most productive attack after four rounds. They have scored 20 times, averaging five goals per game, although they occupy second place in the table on nine points.
Al-Ahli lead the standings with 10 points, one more than Ettifaq.
