Guinean midfielder Oumar Keita, known by the nickname “Zandé,” is the subject of a $1 million transfer offer from Al Bateah, as the Emirati side looks to bolster its midfield ahead of the new season.
Keita, 22, recently returned to Shabab Al Ahli Dubai following a loan spell at Khor Fakkan, where he impressed during the 2023–2024 UAE Pro League campaign.
In 16 league appearances, he scored three goals and registered one assist, earning recognition as one of the standout midfielders in the competition.
His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Al Bateah reportedly entering advanced negotiations to bring him on board.
The club, which narrowly escaped relegation last season, is determined to reinforce its squad and sees Keita as a key target in its rebuilding strategy.
Al Bateah’s offer includes the possibility of a loan deal with an option to buy, should a permanent transfer prove unattainable during the current transfer window.
According to sources cited by Africasoccer, the club is prepared to go the distance to secure the player’s signature.
Shabab Al Ahli Dubai, current champions of the UAE Pro League and qualified for the 2025–2026 AFC Champions League, may be reluctant to part ways with Keita entirely.
The midfielder, who joined the club from Emirates Club during the 2024 summer transfer window, remains under contract until June 30, 2027.
However, with first-team opportunities potentially limited at the reigning champions, a move to Al Bateah could offer Keita the chance for regular playing time and further development.
Keita’s loan spell at Khor Fakkan marked a significant step forward in his career. His ability to dictate play in the centre of the park, coupled with his composure and tactical awareness, made him a consistent performer for the side.
His growing maturity and leadership on the field have only added to his appeal, with Al Bateah now positioning themselves as frontrunners to sign the Guinea international.
Talks between Al Bateah and Shabab Al Ahli Dubai are believed to be ongoing, with the structure of the deal still under discussion. Whether through a direct transfer or a loan-to-buy arrangement, both parties appear open to negotiation, provided terms are suitable.
The coming days will be crucial in determining whether Keita’s next chapter lies with Al Bateah. For now, the interest underscores his rising stock in Middle Eastern football and highlights the growing demand for young African talent in the Gulf region.
If the deal is finalised, Keita would join a club eager to climb the league table after a turbulent campaign. With his technical skillset, eye for goal, and proven ability in the Pro League, he could play a central role in Al Bateah’s ambitions for the upcoming season.
