Egyptian giants Al Ahly have announced on Wednesday that Moroccan winger Reda Slim sustained a partial tear in the outer cartilage of his knee during their CAF Champions League clash against CR Bélouizdad.
Club doctor Ahmed Gaballah confirmed the injury and revealed that Slim would undergo further medical tests to determine the most effective treatment plan.
The 25-year-old sustained the injury in the first half and was substituted for South African forward Percy Tau.
Despite the setback, Ahly secured a resounding 6-1 victory, strengthening their position in the group stage.
The injury comes at a challenging time, as Ahly faces a packed fixture list, including a Premier League clash against Masry on Thursday at Borg El-Arab Stadium.
Slim joined Ahly in July 2023 from AS FAR and has contributed four goals and three assists in 23 appearances.
His performances have drawn interest from Moroccan clubs, including Wydad and Raja Casablanca, who are reportedly eager to bring him back.
Slim’s recovery could shape his future with Ahly and any potential transfer moves.
