Al Ahly manager Hussein Ammouta held talks with football director Wael Gomaa as the club continued preparations for the period following the international break.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of Tuesday’s training session at Mokhtar El Tetsh Stadium in Gezira, where the first-team squad completed a varied programme of physical and technical exercises.
The coaching staff then moved the players on to ball-work drills, with Ammouta focusing on specific technical instructions and aiming to improve the squad’s physical and technical readiness.
Gomaa and Ammouta used their meeting to discuss the arrangements required for the next stage of the season. Their discussions included the administrative and organisational matters needed by the coaching staff during the international break.
They also coordinated plans for the friendly matches Al Ahly will play during the current period. Those fixtures form part of the coaching staff’s plan to maintain the players’ fitness and match readiness before the return of competitive football.
Ammouta recently arrived in Cairo to take charge of Al Ahly’s training after completing some of his own commitments. The team returned to work on Monday evening after the players were given four days off.
Al Ahly are using the current break to work on both the physical and technical aspects of the squad’s preparation. The coaching staff’s objective is to raise the players’ level of readiness ahead of the team’s return to official matches in the next phase.
Four players continued to follow their individual treatment and rehabilitation programmes away from the main training work. They were Mohamed El Shenawy, Yasser Ibrahim, Taher Mohamed Taher and Ahmed Nabil “Koka”.
The quartet’s progress is being monitored daily by team doctor Ahmed Gaballah.
