Al Ahly’s management is thinking about sending a formal complaint to the Egyptian Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee targeting Ahmed Hossam Mido, a Zamalek Planning Committee member, for his social media posts.
A club insider told Kooora that Al Ahly’s legal team is digging into Mido’s tweets mentioning the club to assess grounds for action.
The insider said, “If the complaint is filed with the Disciplinary Committee, another complaint will also be filed with the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, given that Mido’s official account is considered a public platform for disseminating news.”
Mido tweeted today, “We have decided to escalate and file a case with the International Court of Arbitration for Sport, and Pyramids FC stands in solidarity with us. God willing, after the lawyers’ confirmation, Al Ahly will have three points deducted. The stupidest decision in the history of Egyptian football, stupider than Al Ahly’s withdrawal.”
The tension originated from Zamalek’s rejection of the Clubs Association’s softened penalties on Al Ahly after the summit crisis, despite Al Ahly’s protest over foreign referees.
