Al Ahly to part ways with Slovenian forward Nejc Gradiscar at the end of season

Al Ahly SC have reached a decisive conclusion regarding the future of Slovenian forward Nejc Gradiscar, opting to part ways with the striker at the end of the current campaign.

The Egyptian giants held an extensive meeting earlier this week to address several pressing matters, including potential departures and plans to recruit a new striker ahead of next season. Gradiscar’s situation topped the agenda, with a final direction now agreed upon.

The decision to release Gradiscar permanently was taken with the full backing of the football management and technical director Jess Thorup. The hierarchy believes a fresh attacking option is required as the club reshapes its frontline.

Although discussions were initially held over the possibility of extending the player’s loan, the prevailing view within the club is to allow him to leave, particularly if a suitable financial offer arrives.

Gradiscar departed Al Ahly during the winter transfer window and joined Hungarian side Újpest FC on loan until the end of the season. His move to Hungary came just months after he had signed for Al Ahly in the winter of 2025 from Fehérvár FC.

With the summer window approaching, Al Ahly are expected to intensify their search for a proven goal scorer as they aim to strengthen their squad for domestic and continental ambitions.
