Al Ahly have decided to delay discussions over extending and revising Imam Ashour’s contract, which currently runs until 2028.
An insider at the club revealed: “We were preparing an offer to present to Imam Ashour to renew his contract before the end of the season, and following the player’s recent actions, we decided to postpone the matter until further notice.”
In midweek, the Red Devils recently secured a 3-1 win against Wadi Degla at Cairo International Stadium in the 16th round of the Egyptian Premier League.
The victory moves Al Ahly into third place with 26 points from 13 matches, while Wadi Degla sits fourth with 23 points from 14 games.
Al Ahly are set to face Tanzanian side Young Africans today, January 31, at 3 p.m. in the fourth round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
Imam Ashour will be absent from the trip, having been suspended and fined following his failure to travel with the team.
