Al Ahly to face Al Hilal and Misr El Maqassah in international-break friendlies

Al Ahly will play two friendly matches during the current international break, football director Wael Gomaa has confirmed.

The Egyptian club are scheduled to meet Libya’s Al Hilal on 30 September, before facing Misr El Maqassah on 3 October after training resumes.

“We will face Al Hilal of Libya in a friendly on 30 September, followed by Misr El Maqassah on 3 October after the return to training,” Gomaa told Al Ahly’s media centre.

Al Ahly’s players were given four days off after competitive fixtures were suspended for the international break. The squad returned to training on the evening of the announcement at El Tetch Stadium, where preparations began for the upcoming period.

Head coach Hussein Ammouta has also returned to Cairo from his holiday in Morocco and will resume charge of the team.

Al Ahly’s next competitive fixture will come in the Egypt Capital Cup, with the club set to face Asyut Petroleum. The match will be played at Borg El Arab Stadium on Thursday, 8 October, with kick-off scheduled for 17:00. It will be broadcast on On Sport.

Al Ahly have been placed in Group Three of the competition alongside Eastern Company, ENPPI, El Gouna, Asyut Petroleum and Arab Contractors.

Egyptian league clubs will return to action after the international break for the opening round of the Egypt Capital Cup. The Egyptian Premier League will then resume later, before another suspension in November for a further international break.
