Al Ahly to celebrate League title after Champions League clash with Gor Mahia
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved Al Ahly’s request to officially receive their league trophy following their upcoming CAF Champions League match against Gor Mahia. The Egyptian champions made this request to commemorate their title win in front of their fans and with the entire squad in attendance.
CAF’s approval means Al Ahly will be handed the trophy by the Egyptian Football Association in a special ceremony scheduled to take place immediately after the Champions League fixture.
This celebration comes more than a month after Al Ahly secured their record-extending 44th league title with a 1-0 victory over Smouha on August 8.
The reigning African champions are set to face Gor Mahia on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 9 PM CET.
Al Ahly already holds a commanding lead in the tie, having won the first leg 3-0 in Kenya.
The upcoming match provides a perfect backdrop for the title celebration, allowing Al Ahly to share the moment with their home supporters.
This event is poised to be a memorable occasion for the Cairo giants as they cap off another successful season with the support of their fans and in the presence of their full squad.
