Al Ahly continued their dominant run in the Egyptian Premier League with a convincing 4-0 victory over Ismaily SC on Sunday, while Zamalek SC were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Petrojet FC.
The reigning champions wasted no time asserting their authority, breaking the deadlock in the 9th minute when Marwan Attia confidently converted a penalty.
Despite Ismaily’s attempts to mount a response, Al Ahly remained in control throughout the first half, maintaining their slender lead heading into the break.
The visitors extended their advantage early in the second half through Emam Ashour, who found the net in the 51st minute following a precise assist from Slovenian forward Nejc Gradisar.
The floodgates opened in the final stages of the match, with Ashour turning provider in the 83rd minute as he set up Hussein El Shahat for Al Ahly’s third goal.
Just four minutes later, Moroccan winger Reda Slim added the finishing touch, securing an emphatic 4-0 win.
The victory sees Marcel Koller’s side reclaim top spot in the league, awaiting the outcome of Pyramids FC’s next match, as they sit second with 30 points.
Zamalek drop points as other fixtures deliver drama
While Al Ahly strengthened their position at the summit, Zamalek SC struggled to keep pace, managing only a 1-1 draw against Petrojet FC.
The result further dents their hopes in the title race, as they continue to struggle for consistency.
Elsewhere, National Bank of Egypt claimed an impressive 4-1 victory over Smouha SC, while Haras El Hedood secured a solid 2-0 win against Pharco FC.
