Al Ahly are moving swiftly to land promising Zambian left-back David Hamansenya as part of their plan to reinforce the position ahead of a key squad reshuffle.
The 2007-born defender, currently playing in the 2025 African Youth Championship in Egypt, caught the attention of the club’s scouts, who recommended him to the planning committee. Club officials were reportedly impressed after tracking his performances and have already contacted the youngster. Although he is tied to Spanish side Leganés, he would be registered in Al Ahly’s junior team if a deal goes through.
A club source confirmed the Cairo giants will not activate the buy option for Moroccan left-back Yahya Atiyatallah, currently on loan from Russia’s Sochi. That decision, paired with Tunisian veteran Ali Maaloul’s expected departure at the end of the season, signals a shift in strategy at left-back.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly will head to Alexandria later today for a closed camp ahead of their league fixture against Al-Masry Al-Borsaiedi, set for tomorrow night at the Egyptian Army Stadium in Borg El-Arab.
