Al Ahly manager Marcel Koller has criticized his players following stalemate against Enppi in the Egyptian Premier League.
The Egyptian powerhouse played out a pulsating goalless draw, as both teams struggled to find the net in the much-anticipated clash at the weekend.
Al Ahly came close to losing the match but Ahmed Ibrahim missed a fine opportunity to convert from the spot for Enppi.
“We didn’t do what we planned,” he remarked during the news conference following the game. We should have had more opportunities, but the players didn’t follow the plan, and we didn’t use the sides of the field adequately.”
The Swiss coach also noted that facing 10 Enppi players near their penalty box made it difficult for his side to break through.
He further admitted that despite Al Ahly being the superior team, they were fortunate not to suffer a loss due to the missed penalty.
Explaining Mohamed El Shenawy absence in the match, Koller asserted Mostafa Shobeir was given a break in an attempt to gain experience.
