Al Ahly attacker Imam Ashour has been handed a two-week suspension and a heavy fine following an act of indiscipline, the club has confirmed.
The Egyptian international was excluded from Al Ahly’s squad for this weekend’s CAF Champions League clash against Young Africans in Tanzania after failing to travel with the team for the fixture.
According to Al Ahly’s football director, Walid Salah El-Din, the club’s management decided to suspend Ashour for two weeks and impose a fine of 1.5 million Egyptian pounds.
During the suspension period, the attacker will be required to train individually away from the first team.
As a result of the sanction, Ashour is set to miss five key matches across domestic and continental competitions.
These include the CAF Champions League encounters against Young Africans, JS Kabylie, and FAR Rabat, as well as Egyptian Premier League fixtures against National Bank of Egypt and Ismaily.
The suspension represents a significant blow for Al Ahly, who are navigating a demanding schedule both at home and in Africa.
