Al Ahly endured another setback in the Egyptian League Cup as they fell to a 3-1 defeat against El Geish in the second round of the group stage.
Meanwhile, ENPPI secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Pharco FC in the evening’s other fixture.
The Red Devils, who had already suffered a 1-0 defeat to ENPPI in their opening match, were unable to find their rhythm against El Geish.
Marcel Koller’s side struggled from the outset and quickly found themselves trailing.
El Geish punish Al Ahly’s defensive lapses
El Geish took an early lead just four minutes into the game when Okwara converted a penalty, setting the tone for a dominant performance.
The pressure mounted on Al Ahly as Mohared doubled the advantage in the 38th minute, leaving the Cairo giants with an uphill battle.
Al Ahly managed to pull one back through Adam Samir, giving them hope of a comeback, but El Geish remained composed.
Any chances of a revival were extinguished when Wahid struck in the 61st minute, restoring the two-goal cushion and sealing a well-earned victory.
ENPPI edge past Pharco FC
In the day’s other fixture, ENPPI continued their strong start to the competition with a 1-0 win over Pharco FC.
The result sees them maintain momentum in the group stage after their earlier victory over Al Ahly.
